Memorial Day 2008

First off, I wanted to thank you all again for your prayers in our behalf and your nice comments to us in response to our last post. It really touched us and we feel so thankful for supportive and loving family and friends.

We had a nice Memorial Day weekend and hope you guys did too! We left Friday evening for an overnight camping trip w/ 3 other families from our ward. We went to a campsite in Garden Valley called Hot Springs. I really didn't want to go on this camp out at first, but am so glad that I did. Mark was very sweet and tried to make it as comfortable for me as possible. We had fun getting to know some friends from our ward a little better. All of the kids had a great time together also. Right across the street and near the river was a little hot spring that the kids loved getting in. That, and hiking the tall hill behind the campsite, provided most of the entertainment for the kids. We came home a dirty mess, and I hear that's the sign of a successful camping experience. Unfortunately, we only took a few pictures of the kids in the hot spring.

Ella got eaten alive on her forehead and scalp by mosquitoes (and possibly a spider) and has had some swelling in her face the past couple of days. On Sunday her eyes were almost swollen shut. She still has some swelling, but I think it's gone down a bit. Whenever she gets any kind of bite, she seems to get this way, it's just never been in her face before. I guess she's really allergic.

On Sunday evening Seth started throwing up and Mark and I didn't feel that good either. He spent the night throwing up and on Monday seemed a bit better, no throwing up, just low in energy and no appetite. Mark worked on the lawn on Monday and I spent the day trying to get caught up on laundry from camping and a throwing up toddler. Mark also managed to finish putting together this airplane teeter totter we got for the kids a while back at CostCo. They loved it and I'm hoping it'll provide some outdoor entertainment for the kids this summer. Mark is getting our backyard in tip top shape and he has set up our old trampoline for the kids too. Thanks dear!

Memorial day evening we went to the cemetery to Bob's grave to take some flowers. It is always so beautiful and peaceful there. They really do a nice job at keeping it nice year round, but this time of year is especially beautiful! We were glad to be able to go. This Wednesday would have been Bob's 37th birthday, so there's always two reasons we go at Memorial Day. It was a nice long weekend and we always enjoy having Mark around for an extra day too! Once again, we didn't take any pictures. I'll post the few we have from the weekend though.

That teeter totter looks fun and cute! Glad your weekend was a success. I love camping. Not as much when I'm pregnant though. So good job.

Very cool teeter totter. I'll have to try it out next time I'm over! :) Your camping trip sounds like fun, except for the bugs eating Ella alive. Ouch!
